The Williamstown Theatre Festival is a resident summer theater on the campus of Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts. It was founded in 1954 by Williams College news director Ralph Renzi and drama program chairman David C. Bryant. It was awarded a Tony Award in 2002 and the Massachusetts Cultural Council Commonwealth Award in 2011. [1]

Williamstown is the fourth-largest town in Berkshire County, and ranks 189th out of the 351 cities and towns in Massachusetts by population. The population density was 179.7 inhabitants per square mile (69.4/km 2 ), ranking it 7th in the county and 264th in the Commonwealth.
The play opened Off-Broadway at the Promenade Theater on March 22, 2000 and closed on May 21, 2000. Directed by Scott Ellis, the play starred Eileen Heckart as Gladys Green and Josh Hamilton as Daniel. [2] [3] The play originally premiered at the Williamstown Theatre Festival, running from August 11, 1999 to August 22, 1999.
It is located on the Williams College campus, close to the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (MASS MoCA) and the Clark Art Institute. Its growing collection encompasses more than 14,000 works, [1] with particular strengths in contemporary art, photography, prints, and Indian painting. The museum is free and open to the public.
Licensed to Williamstown, Massachusetts, United States, the station is owned by Williams College. [3] Shows are run by students, faculty and Williamstown community members. [ 4 ]
The Williamstown CDP is located in the northeastern part of the town of Williamstown at (42.709577, -73.197396 Williams College occupies much of the center of the CDP. At the west side of campus is the intersection of U.S. Route 7 and Massachusetts Route 2 .
