The Susquehanna Regional Transportation Authority, (formerly Central Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (formerly York Adams Transportation Authority)), doing business as rabbittransit, is the mass transit service of York and Adams counties in Pennsylvania and oversees the transportation needs of Columbia, Cumberland, Franklin, Montour, Northumberland, Perry, Snyder and Union counties.

Manchester Township, deriving its name from the English Duke of Manchester, was laid out in 1742 by Thomas Cookson, a representative of the Lancaster County Courts, because at that time York County was a part of Lancaster County. In the entire township there were 300 inhabitants.

When Pennsylvania legislated routes in 1911, what is now PA 181 was the southern portion of Legislative Route 250, which ran between York and the Harrisburg area. [5] In 1928, the road between York and York Haven became a part of PA 24, a route which ran between the Maryland border and New Cumberland.

The route was extended west to PA 74 in Dover in the 1940s. PA 24 was extended from east of York to intersect PA 921 at its terminus in Mount Wolf in the 1970s.
