Catalina is a census-designated place (CDP) in Pima County, Arizona, United States. The population was 7,025 at the 2000 census . Catalina continues to experience increasing population growth, while attempting to maintain its rural character.
The Catalina Foothills community is bounded to the north by the Santa Catalina Ranger District of the Coronado National Forest. According to the United States Census Bureau , the CDP has a total area of 44.6 square miles (115.5 km 2 ), of which 44.5 square miles (115.2 km 2 ) is land and 0.1 square mile (0.3 km 2 ) (0.3%) is water.
