Altamont Hotel is a historic hotel located at Fayetteville, Fayette County, West Virginia. It was built in 1897–1898, and is a 2 + 1 ⁄ 2 -story, T-shaped brick building on a raised basement. It features a gently sloping hipped roof and wraparound Victorian verandah .
The Charleston, West Virginia, architectural firm of Meanor & Handloser designed the building, and the construction of the hotel was done by Payne Construction of Ashland, Kentucky, at a final cost of $600,000. In a naming contest held by the Chamber of Commerce, the name "Mountaineer Hotel" was chosen with a $100 prize going to the winner. [3]

Mossy is an unincorporated community in Fayette County, West Virginia, United States. Mossy is located off exit 60 on the West Virginia Turnpike and is west of Oak Hill. As of 1993, the community had an Exxon gas station, and motel, all owned by Teddy Gray. [2] The motel has burned down and is gone.
