Dragon initially wasn't about making the world's most powerful engine, but simply making a more human-like computer opponent. Though ironically, I have encountered a few situations where Dragon chooses potentially less "human" moves than Stockfish. Especially at the master/grandmaster level.

Much, much more salient, for example, is the recent result of CCC 17 rapid, where SF beat Komodo in a 300 game match with 181.5 points to 118.5. For Lc0 at least there is the chance that Leela will understand some positions better than SF with its much larger neural network. Dragon is too similar to SF, but just a bit worse.
I just noticed that Chess.com gives the option between using Stockfish and Komodo for analysis. Is there a good reason to use one over the other? I have noticed that their evaluations can be slightly different for the same position at the same depth, and they sometimes suggest different moves. Are they stronger/ more accurate in different ...
One buys a suite (a chess program) with extra functionalities that make the experience nicer. For example likely there are a database for puzzles and so on. Surely in the last years thanks to lichess, yahoo chess and others, the appeal of a chess program (engine + extras) is going down.
Komodo Dragon 3.2 is written by Komodo Chess, who were independent developers. I believe the company is owned by chess.c0m now. Komodo Chess plays in a more human-like way, which is conducive to analysing with and playing training games against humans.
