All HD channels in Ireland broadcast at 1080i. There are currently two channels available to Saorsat viewers, three channels available to Saorview viewers, one-hundred-and-eleven channels available to Sky Ireland viewers and sixty-six channels available to Virgin Media Ireland viewers on their respective EPGs.
The channel was owned by ITV plc since February 2016, following the sale of UTV Media's television assets. In July 2016, ITV announced the sale of UTV Ireland to Virgin Media Ireland, owners of TV3. The channel was replaced by be3 on 9 January 2017. It was later renamed Virgin Media Three.
In March 2022, ITV announced the launch of ITVX, [4] an integrated advertising and subscription funded platform. The service serves as a replacement for ITV Hub, taking over as the broadcaster's catch-up service, and is positioned as a direct competitor to BBC iPlayer and the Channel 4 VOD service; featuring more exclusive programming, and a selection of FAST channels.
UTV Ireland was broadcast from the company's Dublin base at Macken House and carried a large amount of ITV's networked programming (including Emmerdale and Coronation Street, previously broadcast by TV3) alongside some bespoke programming, including Ireland Live, a twice nightly national news programme airing at 5.30 pm and 10 pm.
