A New Concealed Handgun Permit costs $90.00, which includes the $10.00 fingerprinting fee. A Renewal Concealed Handgun Permit costs $75.00; Applications for CHP and Renewals will be processed between 8:00am-2:00pm Monday-Friday. Click on the NEW or RENEW application link to start the application.
New Carry Concealed Handgun Permits: You must complete a North Carolina State approved carry concealed handgun course prior to application. After you have completed your online application, you must make an appointment to sign the required documents and be fingerprinted.
CHP Renewal – CHP Renewal – Effective March 1, 2024, ALL renewal applicants MUST complete the online application and bring the 8-page paperwork packet to the office. At that time your paperwork will be reviewed and notarized.

After choosing the concealed carry link below, please choose either new or renewal. If your permit has expired, you must apply as a new applicant. The state grants a 60 day grace period after your permit expires, but requires you to submit a new set of fingerprints at your GCSO appointment.
You must apply for renewal PRIOR to your expiration date; if your permit is expired, you cannot renew. However, if your expired permit is within 60-days of expiration, you can apply as a NEW applicant without having to re-take the NC Safety Course.
