Literally just sold my wife's car to Carmax about an hour ago. Registration expired last month (3/21) but they didn't say a single thing about it. This was Maryland. 3. sperrin87. • 3 yr. ago. Give them a call - you’ll have a definitive answer. 2. dantasticdanimal.
Reply reply. andy_337. •. I bought my car brand new back in 2019 for $22,800. I sold that same car to Carmax last August after 43,000 miles and several dings and scratches for $22,500 and was able to use the $7,000 positive equity as a down payment for a truck. I essentially paid a principal of $300 to own that car for over 3 years.
Car runs smooth. I needed up selling to Carvana for 15 percent more than CarMax’s INITIAL offer and had no issues thus far (check clears both banks after a few days) Had a great experience a week ago selling to CarMax. Honored their online offer price. Gave me my plates back after inspecting the car.
Write down what carvanna offered. Find out what Carmax will offer. List it for a few grand more than the higher of the two. Unless you need a car between selling and buying the truck, then find out what carvana/carmax will give you and find a dealership with the car you want and see what they give you on trade in.
Dirk_Beefslab. ADMIN MOD. Selling a car to Carvana: my experience (so far) Some life changes this fall have enabled my family to go down to one car, so we opted to keep the larger vehicle and sell the smaller vehicle. I used to love wheeling and dealing on used cars, but as I’ve gotten older, the less I like dealing with the general public.
Selling when you still owe on the financing. I know you can sell to carmax when you still owe money on the car to a different lender. And if carmax will pay more than whats left on the loan you pocket the difference and if less, then you must pay the difference. My question is if you have to pay the difference, can you finance the difference ...
At Carmax with an appointment, around 2 hours from my experience. They have to appraise it then give you an offer (about an hour). If you decide to sell it, then another hour. If they are busy, maybe 3 hours. If you have equity on the car, you'll get a check same day. 5.
Current Carmax sales consultant here. You can’t “not mention it”. When our buyers appraise the vehicle, the first thing they do is scan the VIN to see if it’s already been appraised by us or an affiliate company. If you already have an Edmunds offer, that is also our offer.
Pretty easy really. Go in with your loan info. Account number, bank, payoff. They will verify payoff, add about $200 for a 15 day payoff and give you a bank draft for the difference. They will payoff your loan. If they overestimated, the lienholder will pay you back. 10.
