Monogram is an American brand and former manufacturing company of scale plastic models of cars, aircraft, spacecraft, ships, and military vehicles since the early 1950s. The company was formed by two former employees of Comet Kits, Jack Besser and Bob Reder.
Roth's Web site reports that in 1963 Revell paid Roth 1 cent for every one of his model kits sold, totaling $32,000. Aurora profitably targeted a younger demographic than their competitors, creating smaller-sized, less detailed models at a lower price. [4] [5] The first kits came in late 1952 and were 1:48 scale aircraft models.
