Nandan is a government-sponsored film and cultural centre in Kolkata, India. [2] The primary aim of the cultural hub is to encourage and facilitate cinematic awareness in society. It includes a few comparatively large screens housed in an impressively architectured building.
The Akademi is housed in two separate buildings, one at Nandan-Rabindra Sadan Complex (also mentioned as Bangla Akademi-Rabindra Sadan or Nandan-Bangla Akademi Complex during the Akademi festivals and book fairs) in South Kolkata and the other at Rabindra-Okakura Bhaban, Bidhannagar (Salt Lake).
Nandan is a Government sponsored cinema located in A.J.C. Bose Road, (near Rabindra Sadan. The theatre was inaugurated by Satyajit Ray in 1985. There are four screens Nandan–I, Nandan–II, Nandan–III and Nandan–IV here. In Nandan–I and Nandan–II films are regularly screened.

The 29th Kolkata International Film Festival began on 5 December 2023 at Netaji Indoor Stadium, in Kolkata, India. A 1963 romantic comedy Bengali film Deya Neya by Sunil Bannerjee opened the festival, which screened 219 films from 39 countries.
