Steve Courson grew up in Longmeadow, Massachusetts and went to Longmeadow High School. He played on the offense and defense lines and graduated in 1973 in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. Streeter was a two-year starter at quarterback for Gettysburg Area High School, where he threw for more than 4,000 yards in his career and led the Warriors to two appearances in the district championship game. He was named to the 1995 Big 33 Football Classic all-star game. He played at Clemson from 1996 to 1999.
