Richard Buckner Gruelle (February 22, 1851 – November 8, 1914) [1] was an American Impressionist painter, illustrator, and author, who is best known as one of the five Hoosier Group artists.
Inspired by the principles of Arthur Wesley Dow and the Texas landscape, O'Keeffe made paintings using vibrant red, blue and yellow colors. [5] About 1916, she used brilliant red and yellow colors in Special #21: Palo Duro Canyon, which belongs to the New Mexico Museum of Art. It was stolen in December 2003 and has not been recovered. [5]
William Heaton Cooper RA (6 October 1903–1995) was an English impressionistic landscape artist who worked predominantly in watercolours, most famous for his paintings of the Lake District. [1] Since the 1950s, he has become known as one of the most celebrated British landscape artists of the 20th century.
In his will he requested that one-third of his paintings currently in his Norwich studio were to be destroyed. There remain about 19,000 water colours and 300 oil paintings worldwide. A major retrospective of his work was held in autumn 2008 in London, as was a Sky Arts 2 television series about Seago fronted by Selina Scott .
Alfred Sisley (/ ˈ s ɪ s l i /; French:; 30 October 1839 – 29 January 1899) was an Impressionist landscape painter who was born and spent most of his life in France, but retained British citizenship. He was the most consistent of the Impressionists in his dedication to painting landscape en plein air (i.e., outdoors).
