In 1959, the business opened its largest store to date in Lancaster. At 25,000 square feet (2,300 m 2), the Lancaster Minyard featured new technology such as mercury vapor lighting, a 200-car parking lot, automatic air-opened doors, background music, and air-conditioning. [1] By 1960, the 11 Minyard Food Stores generated sales of $15 million.

Harris and Company of Dallas, founded in 1887 and acquired by Federated in 1961.

Sanger–Harris department store was founded in 1961 as a merger of two Dallas department stores, Sanger Brothers and A. Harris & Co. [2] In January 1987, the Sanger–Harris stores were combined with Federated’s Houston-based department store Foley's and all of the Dallas locations were renamed Foley's.
