Apartment sales and control of the condominium were turned over to unit owners in 1982. [2] There are 815 units including efficiencies, one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, commercial office space, a convenience store, 701 parking garage spaces, and a restaurant.

The current total number of apartments, ranging from efficiencies to three-bedroom units, is 425. The Kennedy–Warren is considered the largest and best example of an Art Deco building in Washington. In 1989, the building was listed as a District of Columbia Historic Landmark, and in 1994 it was added to the National Register of Historic Places.
