[27] [28] The freeway was extended east in 1998 to Van Dyke Avenue in Utica; the same year, the eastern end was rerouted off Gratiot Avenue and 23 Mile Road to end at a different interchange with I-94, eliminating the concurrency with M-3. [29] [30] The old routing of M-59 along Auburn Road in Rochester Hills is still maintained by MDOT. [31]

Like other state highways in Michigan, US 24 is maintained by the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT). In 2011, the department's traffic surveys showed that on average, 85,302 vehicles used the highway daily between the "Mixing Bowl" and 12 Mile Road and 6,401 vehicles did so each day in southern Monroe County, the highest and lowest counts along the highway, respectively. [3]
M-150 follows a single road, known locally as Rochester Road. The trunkline begins at an interchange where Rochester Road crosses the M-59 freeway at exit 46 in Rochester Hills. From there it travels north past the Hampton Golf Club and the Winchester Mall between the intersections with Auburn and Hamlin roads.
The southern segment was part of US Highway 12 (US 12) and the whole road was later renumbered Business Spur Interstate 696 (BS I-696). From 1970 until 1986, it was part of US 10, and the freeway has been M-10 since. The non-freeway segment that runs between I-696 in Southfield and Orchard Lake Road was previously numbered M-4.
M-39 was reassigned to Southfield Road, which parallels Schaefer Highway two miles (3.2 km) to the west, connecting I-94 with Northwestern Highway in 1958-59. [2] [3] By 1961, the freeway was marked as under construction on maps. [20] The first section opened in December 1961 was 2.7 miles (4.3 km) from Ford Road north to Chicago Road.
