The first two-thirds of Series 3 debuted on VHS by The Video Collection in November 1991, as two volumes titled "Time for Trouble and Other Stories" and "Trust Thomas and Other Stories". The other third of the series was released on VHS in 1992 following the TV airings, titled "Escape and Other Stories".

The series focuses on the adventures of a younger version of Thomas the Tank Engine and his friends, including Percy, Nia, Kana, and Diesel. Throughout the episodes, they learn many life lessons and solve problems, while going around on their daily lives doing jobs, with help from each other and the other residents and visitors of the Island of Sodor.
The Video Collection released "Rock 'n' Roll and Other Stories" in November 1994 which contained eight episodes. Another selection of eight episodes was released as "Thomas & Stepney and Other Stories" in July 1995, and two more episodes debuted on the compilation release "Thomas' Train and 17 Other Stories" in July 1995.

As of October 1, 2010, the rights to the Left Behind film series have officially been restored to Cloud Ten Pictures, and the company is planning a remake of the series. Cloud Ten was hoping to start development on the remake by late 2011. [needs update] Cloud Ten released three films in 2008: Smuggler's Ransom, Genius Club and Saving God.
