A long-term project under the auspices of BORI, started on 1 April 1919, was the preparation of a critical edition of the Mahabharata. V.S. Sukthankar was appointed general editor of the project on 1 August 1925 and he continued until his death on 21 January 1943. After his death, S.K. Belvalkar was appointed general editor on 1 April 1943.

The Joshi-Abhyankar serial murders were ten murders committed by Rajendra Jakkal, Dilip Sutar, Shantaram Kanhoji Jagtap and Munawar Harun Shah of Pune, India between January 1976 and March 1977. All the murderers were commercial art students at the Abhinav Kala Mahavidyalaya, Tilak Road, and were hanged for their crimes on 27 November 1983. [ 1 ]
It started as the College of Commerce in the Amphi theatre of the Fergusson College on 20 June 1943. Sir Ardeshir Dalal formally inaugurated the college on 24 June 1943. Chandrashekhar Agashe , managing agent of Brihan Maharashtra Sugar Syndicate donated Rs 2 lakhs to the college, which was renamed as the Brihan Maharashtra College of Commerce.
