Terry Ellsworth left the band in the summer of 1983, at the height of the California mod revival. Josh Harris was added on keyboards, Timothy Moynahan on trombone and Will Donato (who became a successful smooth jazz artist) started on sax. Their second single, "The General", became a minor local hit, despite poor distribution.
The mod revival is a subculture that started in the United Kingdom in the late 1970s and later spread to other countries (to a lesser degree).. The Mod Revival started with disillusionment with the punk scene when commercialism set in. [citation needed] It was featured in an article in Sounds music paper in 1976 and had a big following in Reading/London during that time.
Elements of the mod subculture include fashion (often tailor-made suits); music (including soul, rhythm and blues, ska and mainly jazz) and motor scooters (usually Lambretta or Vespa). In the mid-1960s when they started to fade out, the subculture listened to rock groups with jazz and blues influences such as the Who and Small Faces .
