The DVD/CD Rom driver is typically the cdrom.sys which is included in Windows 10. What is wrong with the DVD/CD Rom drive? I use Window 10 Edge. The system dose not recognize my DVD machine. Simply no drive indication. So I download a DVD driver from LG website. But is doesn't work, and I cannot find a good driver from Sony website.
HP Super Multi DVD Writer, Model: GUD1N. DVD player and iTunes say no drive detected. In device manager it shows cd-rom drive but no details. I don'thave another PC to test it on. Also at times it doesn't even eject. And finally I've only installed windows updates
Hi Jamee, Please provide the following detail. What is the make and model of your laptop? There is one more way to open the CD/DVD ROM of your laptop.
Click the drop-down arrow next to DVD/CD-ROM drives to reveal the existing optical drives. Right-click on your optical drive and select Uninstall; Restart your PC after uninstalling the optical drive. Windows will automatically detect the drive then reinstall it. Hi - I see you have looked at other threads on this topic... usually users reporting CD ripping problems (ripping is the term for copying an audio CD to your music library) do not have a rip location set in Windows Media Player (WMP).
