Other people like to wallow in their sadness a while for catharsis, and might like sad music. Hmm, I’m 1000% the first kind of person.

The music in FFXIV is some of my favourite of any video game. Especially the emotional themes they use. However, I am having a lot of trouble finding specifically the names of the sadder themes. Short of going through every single soundtrack and rewatching a ton of ARR/HW cutscenes, I don't have a good way to find out.
So happy music to be happy, sad music mostly to punctuate a sad time or event - though i have also listened to feel sad or appreciate the song, and any combo thereof - aggressive music when im angry to bolster that feeling. That sort of thing. To enhance and validate what im feeling by putting it into my environment.
Depends. There are EDM songs with pretty sad lyrics and upbeat rythm that one e.g. makes me feel light, and calm. Sad music makes me feel like I'm not crazy with my view of the world. Listened to "mad world" yesterday in a grocery store parking lot.
