Earning the Bobcat badge is a required milestone for Cub Scouts at the start of their journey. Needing to be earned before a Cub can advance to the rank of Tiger, Wolf, Bear, Webelos, or Arrow of Light, the Bobcat badge will teach a Cub Scout the various ins and outs of Scouting values and traditions!
Boys who join the Cub Scout program on June 1, 2015, or later must complete the Bobcat requirements listed below before earning the rank badge for their school or birth year. Learn and say the Scout Oath , with help if needed.
Instead of earning it once when they join, Cub Scouts will now complete the Bobcat Adventure every year. It will be the first Adventure for each rank, from Lion (kindergarten) to Arrow of Light (5th grade).
Regardless of what age or grade a Cub Scout is in, the Bobcat rank must be earned before earning any other rank, except Lion. Lion Scouts earn the Lion rank first. When they complete kindergarten, they may begin work on the Bobcat badge. The Bobcat requirements focus on the fundamentals of Cub Scouting that every Cub Scout must know.
