Cat Veterinarian: Dr. JD. Hello and thank you for your question. Tresaderm is a topical medication used very frequently in cats for the treatment of ear infections. Unless there is an underlying problem like a ruptured ear drum, I would not expect to see any side effects like you describe.
The label for Tresaderm does not state a minimum age for kittens. Therefore this medication can be used in cats that are 5 weeks old safely based on the studies that were performed with the medication. For ear mites I generally recommend using the drops twice a day. Five to fifteen drops in each ear is the recommended dose though I would use ...
Use saline nasal drops (like Ocean Mist) but not anything medicated. Tilt the head back and drop two to three drops in one nostril. Cats hate this, but it helps. After the drops go down, you can let the head up and wipe away any discharge that gets loosened. Then repeat with the other nostril. 2) Steam treatments to relieve congestion is ...
To me, that is an admission of guilt, seeing that my cat's liver was in such bad shape. Strictly speaking, there are no over-the-counter equivalents, since these particular drugs are monitored by the government and approved for prescription use only. Many pet supply stores do carry this cleaning ...
Tresaderm contains a steroid, antifungal and different antibiotic. It states on the packaging it is very irritant to the eyes. You need to gently rinse her eye with water to remove any remaining tresaderm. I would advise also phoning your vet ASAP and getting her seen, as steroid can cause ulceration of the cornea.
If you can flush the eyes like with eye flush ( even Human) at home to remove the material will be most beneficial also. If you do not have any even gentle flush with warm water can help to remove the tresaderm from the eye also. I accidentally used human antibiotic eye drops in my kitten’. Accidentally put Tresderm ear drops in my cats eye.
Be sure to thoroughly irrigate Bruno's ear(s) prior to instilling the Tresaderm. You can purchase an over the counter ear cleansee where dog supplies are sold, fill the ear with the cleanser, massage the base of the ear in a way to get a column of that fluid moving up and down the ear canal and then wipe away any debris brought up by the fluid.
