We had to actually stand up and bend over to shoot down. At 36" the window sill provides a great rest for your rifle. This blind (as well as most all of our blinds) is set up for about a 100 yard shot to where we expect to see deer. With a comfortable rest on the window sill we have experienced one-shot DRT kills 99% of the time.
When I anchor my elevated blinds I use 4 ft. earth anchors. They're basically an auger with an eye at one end. Run a piece of wire rope from two corners of the blind down to a turn buckle at the auger. I turn the augers down 3 ft and use the turn buckle to adjust the tension. One auger on each side of the blind holds everything just fine.
I've had deer come right up to my blind while I have the heater on. They don't spook unless I move or make a noise and I've had them downwind of me too. I hadn't heard of Paulin before, they look similar to the Mr. Heater line. I haven't seen anyone posting that uses Sterno liquid fuel. That's a staple at our camp.
The deer will be alarmed by the wood smoke if they are not used to it. Maybe if you started burning last summer they could bet used to it but not at the end of the season. Seems like using wood will alert deer you are in the blind instead of accomplishing your objective of covering your scent.
My deer blind is 25 feet from ground to floor. The 6x6 posts go in the ground 4 feet. To maintain rigidity - I used 1/4 inch steel cable. First a capture cable encircles all 4 legs - that is - it goes around the perimeter of all four legs, the leg protected by a 6 inch piece of angle iron.

thanks for the support. the blind has been there for 2 years and this is the first time I've talked to him. I asked him (on the phone) if I shot a deer and it ran on his property if I could drag it back (law requires written permission). he started ranting and raving about the blind too close etc.
It comes in black which helps with collecting UV rays to melt snow and ice and warmth. If you nail branches on the roof to give the appearance of growth (as I do) it seals around the nail shank, same same with the sides. If water pools on it ( 1-3/12 pitch) no problem. Also, it is light weight which helps with a lightly constructed blind.
