It was a working-class neighborhood. Children played in the local creek and woods along with playing basketball, baseball and softball at Riverbend Park where the winning team would ride around the neighborhood honking their horns celebrating their win. There were two summer pools nearby, the Moose Lodge and Wee Bonnie (the latter now gone).
