I just always tell them no. But I was doing research and saw micro brittle starfish and I wanted to see people experience with them.

If the brittle star isn't getting enough to eat they wil eat there own leg s to keep from starving, mine has done it. I just try and give mine some pellet food once a week and a few small pieces of krill and his legs grow back. But no idea on shrimp eating them. Aug 3, 2010. #3.

Just "Green ones" or "Banded ones" isn't exactly a good description for starfish, because there can be dozens of conspecifics, but I've never personally had a particularly aggressive starfish.
Cut a few 1 inch long slits in it about 1/4 inches wide. Just before the lights go out take some krill, mysis and put it in the bottle. Place a small rock or rubble inside the bottle and fill it up with water before placing the lid back on. In the morning, you should have loads of them still hiding in the bottle.
My brittle star (Ophiocoma sp.) and harlequin serpent star (Ophioderma sp.) have been model citizens in my 40-gallon breeder and readily consume flakes, pellets, and bits of frozen food. Starfish (Asteroidea) and brittle/serpent stars (Ophiuroidea) represent separate classes of echinoderms, though they are very similar in appearance.

I've got a brown brittle (12"), an orange serpent (8"), and a tan and red striped serpent (5") and they're all great in my reef. Yesterday I picked up a small green serpent and threw it in my fuge but Id like to put it in my dt.
