RDR2 won a major chunk of media outlets like GameSpot, Edge, EGM to name a few and Golden Joystick (Critics), Brazil Game Awards, Italian Game Awards etc which was a much better performance than any of the runner ups of the years you mentioned including this year.

Those games don't have a single GOTY yet. I love Alan Wake 2, but that game has so many flaws in gameplay from bad puzzles to Mind Place, BG3 is of course a great game, but it doesn't bring anything new to CRPG except cutscenes and big budget. The game becomes too linear over time compared to other great CRPGs.
