  3. K-1 vs 645D Image Comparison Test in Rocky Mountain National Park

    www.pentaxforums.com/forums/48-pentax-medium-format/392600-k-1-vs-645d-image...

The 645D images "popped" more right out of the camera. There seemed to be more micro-contrast and the colors were much more vibrant, where the colors on the K-1 were more muted. Interestingly, the 35mm lenses for each camera, one a medium format sensor, and the other a full frame sensor, had nearly the same coverage.

Just don't put your camera on a tripod and leave it pointed at the sun. With a wide angle lens, the total amount of energy collected and directed toward the sensor is much less than with a longer lens since the aperture is small in comparison, but over time, it "might" do some damage to your shutter which intercepts it when sitting on a tripod (unless you're in a liveview miode with the sensor ...

  5. Mastering Exposure using the Pentax K1000

The K1000 keeps you focused on the subject, not fiddling with various camera settings. Because there is no automatic exposure, a K1000 user is forced (or encouraged) to carefully examine the light condition, choose the right shutter speed and aperture value combination, and then click the release button. 6. Best lens for wildlife using Pentax K-5 IIs on a photography tour

The next best thing is the Sigma 100-300mm f/4 APO EX DG - which is discontinued. The DA300mm f/4 is easily available and presently best thing going for wildlife photographers in pentax land, and with the 1.4X rear converter a 420mm f/5.6 lens should have a required amount of reach to make distant subjects more visible.

  7. Pentax K-3 Mark III for astrophotography? - PentaxForums.com

    www.pentaxforums.com/forums/6-pentax-dslr-discussion/426343-pentax-k-3-mark...

At 30s of exposure for astro and ISO 6400 you would likely be shooting a very faint object or using a very slow lens. I've done the milky way at 13s and ISO 3200 with a 12mm F/2.8 lens wide open on my K-3ii and for Deep Sky Objects (DSOs) I typically will run at 20s, f/3.5, ISO 400 to ISO 1600 with a 400mm f/2.8.

Pentax FA 28-70 f/4. Thanks to all who have replied to my thread. There are obviously mixed feelings about this lens, caused by questionable build quality on one hand, and cheap but okay image quality on the other. My reason for even entertaining the idea of this lens is to bridge the gap b/w my 16-45 and 50-200.

Light collection = 5814 sq mm seconds. Then to compare the lenses... 14mm to 15mm = 1839.8/1177.5 = 1.6 - the 15mm collects 1.6 times more light than the 14mm. 14mm to 20mm = 5814/1177.6 = 4.9 - the 20mm collects 4.9 times more light than the 14mm. The 20mm lens collects 4.9 times more light from objects in the frame.

  11. K100D - Lenses - PentaxForums.com

    www.pentaxforums.com/forums/58-troubleshooting-beginner-help/157385-k100d...

Yes, all Pentax K-mount lenses will fit and work on your K100D (except SDM lenses, unless you have the K100D Super). I agree with Firefly's suggestions - and taking it one step further - the 55-300 is a highly regarded lens as well. You might find one in the ~$200 range and it offers a bit more reach than the 50-200.
