The longer answer is a bit more complicated. PDF files do not have the concept of a “background color” for a page. Most applications simply layout the content of a page on a “blank” background, i.e. one that has no color at all, which is very different than an explicit white background.

Community Expert, Dec 11, 2023. LATEST. If you add text like this often, then you could enter your text, make the background, make your adjustments, and convert these two layers into a Smart Object. Then edit the text in the Smart Object for the next time you need it or make a new Smart Object via copy from it and edit the text in there.

Hi, Probably a simple fix but I'm on someone else's computer so some of the PS settings are different than mine. I try to use the colour picker to get colour in the foreground box, but it always automatically goes to the background box. Can someone tell me how to fix this please? CS4 thanks

This is controlled by a user preference, which cannot be set by the document. You will need to construct the PDF with the background color you want. Exactly how you do this depends on how you're creating the PDF (i.e., the source document).
