What we in the UK have done is put several limits in place: No more than 0.8% per day (admittedly that's still in the 300% range). Capping fees on defaults at £15. A cap on total costs - the interest, fees, etc cannot cost more than the initial loan value. So if you borrow £100, you will never pay back more than £200.
My advice to you since you helped me is to understand a legitimate company will never ask for money in advance from you. I ultimately took out a loan from a company called MDG for 1150.00.
