The Garnet Chargers are a member of ECAC Hockey. They play at the Frank L. Messa Rink at Achilles Center in Schenectady, New York . [ 3 ] The Garnet Chargers (known as the Dutchmen at the time) won the 2014 NCAA Division I men's ice hockey tournament by defeating the Minnesota Golden Gophers 7–4.

Prior to 2023, the college's teams were known as the "Dutchmen" and "Dutchwomen." [2] The nickname was changed to "Garnet Chargers" as part of a branding update.
