In 1981, with the help of the Big Sur Land Trust, White formally organized "The Henry Miller Memorial Library". [1] White was director of the institution until he died in 1989. The Big Sur Land Trust managed the library until October 1998, when the non-profit The Henry Miller Memorial Library Inc. was created to sustain the library. [2] [3]
