The Vector W8 is a sports car produced by American automobile manufacturer Vector Aeromotive Corporation from 1989 to 1993. [1] It was designed by company founder and chief designer Gerald Wiegert [ 1 ] [ 5 ] while receiving refinements by Vector's head of engineering David Kostka.
In the 1990s, Wiegert entered into dispute with investor Megatech, which initiated a hostile takeover of his company and eventually fired him. [6] Wiegert, via the courts, eventually won back the assets, trademarks, and copyrights to Vector Motors, and in 2008, revived the Vector brand name and began development of a new sports car named the WX-8.
In the year 1992, the company changed its name to Vector Informatik GmbH. In the same year, the first CANalyzer license was sold and the company attained sales of one million Euros for the first time. In 1996, the first CANoe and CANape licenses were sold. In 1998, Vector CANtech (USA) was founded, and in the following year Vector Japan.

The car covered over 100,000 mi (160,934 km) in testing, more than any other concept car. In 1990, the concept went into production as the Vector W8. Only a handful cars were constructed before the company went bankrupt. [3] Currently, the Vector W2 prototype is inoperable, but is slated for restoration. [citation needed]
