Magic Johnson Theatres is a chain of movie theaters, originally developed in 1994 by Johnson Development Corporation, the business holding of former basketball player Magic Johnson, and Sony Pictures Entertainment through a partnership with Sony-Loews Theatres.
The chain consists at present of 25 theaters with 147 screens. Most of the theaters are located in Michigan with 10 locations, especially in the Flint/Tri-Cities region and the Greater Lansing area. [1] The group also operates in Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, New York State, North and South Carolina and Tennessee.

MJR Theatres was created in 1980 by Mike Mihalich with the acquisition of Main Theatre (sold in 1997 and now known as the Main Art Theatre) in Royal Oak, Michigan.
