The Founders Bridge is one of the three highway bridges over the Connecticut River between Hartford, Connecticut and East Hartford, Connecticut. The steel stringer bridge carries the Route 2 freeway, and also crosses over Interstate 91 (which runs parallel to the river). As of 2013 the bridge had an average daily traffic of 29,200. [1]

The I-91 ramp was demolished in 1999 during an expansion project. The northernmost two miles (3.2 km) of the Route 9 expressway follows the original path of the southwest segment of I-291 from I-84. Route 9 currently serves as the southwest quadrant around Hartford leaving only the northwest section of I-291 unbuilt.

The Hartford–East Hartford railroad bridge is a 5-span truss bridge connecting Hartford and East Hartford, Connecticut, over the Connecticut River. The bridge is 1,240 feet in length and 18.3 feet in width and was built ca. 1873 by the Hartford, Providence and Fishkill Railroad .
