Palma de Mallorca Airport occupies an area of 6.3 km 2 (2.4 sq mi). Due to rapid growth of passenger numbers, additional infrastructure was added to the two terminals A (1965) and B (1972). This main terminal was designed by local architect Pere Nicolau Bover and was officially opened on 12 April 1997.

Palma (Catalan:, also; [4] Spanish:), also known as Palma de Mallorca (officially between 1983 and 1988, 2006–2008, and 2012–2016), [5] is the capital and largest city of the autonomous community of the Balearic Islands in Spain. [6] It is situated on the south coast of Mallorca on the Bay of Palma.
