Tilting-disc inconel check valve Check valve symbol on piping and instrumentation diagrams. The arrow shows the flow direction. Vertical lift check valve. A check valve, non-return valve, reflux valve, retention valve, foot valve, or one-way valve is a valve that normally allows fluid (liquid or gas) to flow through it in only one direction.
1919 Napier Lion II aircraft engine with three cylinder banks. Any design of motor/engine,be it a V or a boxer can be called an "in-line" if it's mounted in-line with the frame/chassis and in-line with the direction of travel of the vehicle. When the motor/engine is across the frame/chassis this is called a TRANSVERSE motor.Cylinder arrangement is not in the description of how the motor/engine ...
A problem with high-speed engines that use poppet valves is that as engine speed increases, the speed at which the valve moves also has to increase. This in turn increases the loads involved due to the inertia of the valve, which has to be opened quickly, brought to a stop, then reversed in direction and closed and brought to a stop again.
The high- and intermediate-pressure cylinders used piston valves, whereas the low-pressure cylinders used slide valves. Each engine had twin condensers arranged so that either could be taken out of service for repair without stopping the engines, and each engine had two air pumps driven off the low-pressure connecting rods.
March 12, 1909 Wisconsin Motor was incorporated by Charles H. John and Arthur F. Milbrath. By 1912 they employed about 300 people. 1937 Wisconsin Motor merged with Continental Motors Company but retained a separate identity. [1] 1940 V series V4 engines introduced; 1965 Ryan Aeronautical bought 50 per cent of Continental Motors Corporation [2]
The steeple arrangement required a high ceiling to the engine house, but had two advantages: [6] it took up less floor space than a horizontal engine and it also required less complex masonry foundations beneath the engine. A vertical engine could be erected on any reasonably level base that was strong enough to bear its weight. A horizontal ...
The valves are controlled from three horizontal rods - or arbors - mounted in a frame. These have handles to rock them backwards and forwards operating the valves. [ 3 ] : 163 The three arbors control: Top arbor: Steam valve, Middle arbor: Equilibrium valve, and Bottom arbor: Exhaust (also called ‘eduction’) and injection (for the condenser ...
Offset vertical misalignment is where the motor shaft is moved vertically away from the pump shaft, but both shafts are still in the same vertical plane and parallel. Similarly, angular misalignment can be divided into horizontal and vertical misalignment: Angular horizontal misalignment is where the motor shaft is under an angle with the pump ...
