San Diego's history of minor league ice hockey teams began with the San Diego Skyhawks of the Pacific Coast Hockey League, who played from 1948 to 1950, hosting home games at Glacier Gardens. A second iteration of the Skyhawks played in the California Hockey League (1957–1963) from 1960 to 1962, also at Glacier Gardens.
