The band are currently signed to both Indonesian label Aksara Records and American independent label Minty Fresh based in Chicago. [1] Their music is influenced by Indonesian film soundtracks from the 1970s, 1930s jazz, disco, and 1960s pop music.
Seventeen was officially formed on January 17, 1999. The band's name, "Seventeen", was chosen because all of the band members were 17 years old. One year later, Saputro joined the band to fill the vocalist position. [1] Their debut album, Bintang Terpilih ("Selected Stars") was released on July 17, 2003, through Universal Music Indonesia.
