Gorgosaurus was smaller than Tyrannosaurus or Tarbosaurus, close in size to Albertosaurus. Adults reached 8 to 9 m (26 to 30 ft) in length from snout to tail, [ 8 ] [ 7 ] [ 20 ] and weighed 2–3 metric tons (2.2–3.3 short tons) in body mass.
