The City of Boroondara (/ b ɒ r ə n ˈ d ɑː r ə /) is a local government area in Victoria, Australia. It is located in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne . It was formed in June 1994 from the amalgamation of the Cities of Kew , Camberwell and Hawthorn .
Boroondara was an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly [1] in the Australian state of Victoria from 1877 to 1889 and 1904 to 1945. It included the eastern Melbourne suburbs of Kew , Camberwell and Hawthorn .

This is a list of the mayors of the City of Boroondara, a local government area, in Melbourne, Australia. The City of Boroondara was formed in 1994 with the amalgamation of the City of Kew, City of Hawthorn and the City of Camberwell. The mayor is elected by councillors yearly at a full council meeting.
Boroondara General Cemetery, often referred to as Kew cemetery, is one of the oldest cemeteries in Victoria, Australia, created in the tradition of the Victorian garden cemetery. The cemetery, located in Kew , a suburb of Melbourne , is listed as a heritage place on the Victorian Heritage Register .
The suburb has been immortalised by the Skyhooks single named after the suburb, 'Balwyn Calling', while The Age newspaper once described the suburb as "arguably Melbourne's most loved".
