Ainsworth is a town in Langlade County, Wisconsin in United States. The town was founded in 1904, and was named for Thomas Ainsworth, a civil engineer who supervised the construction of the Wolf River Dam in 1869 for the Keshena Improvement Company. [5]
Hyde built a store in what became Bear Creek Station. In 1885, land was platted for Hyde alongside the railroad right-of-way, and named Bear Creek after the nearby stream. In June 1898, [5] the community and its post office were renamed Welcome, after Capt. Hyde. [6] In June 1902, work began to incorporate the community into a village. [7]
As of the census [3] of 2010, there were 670 people, 292 households, and 181 families living in the village. The population density was 1,155.2 inhabitants per square mile (446.0/km 2).
