Gir National Park and Wildlife Sanctuary, also known as Sasan Gir, is a forest, national park, and wildlife sanctuary near Talala Gir in Gujarat, India. It is located 43 km (27 mi) north-east of Somnath , 65 km (40 mi) south-east of Junagadh and 60 km (37 mi) south-west of Amreli .
The distribution of Asiatic lion, once found widely in West and South Asia, dwindled to a single population in the Gir Forest National Park and Wildlife Sanctuary in India. [3] The population at Gir declined to 18 animals in 1893 but increased due to protection and conservation efforts to 284 in 1994. [4]
Nameri faces two threats: One is due to continued official logging in the area of Sonitpur. The other major threat for Nameri is human/animal conflict due to around 3000 cattle grazing the forest. [5] There is another human/animal conflict due to the vast group of elephants in Nameri.

Etawah Lion Safari was first proposed in 2006. [3] Work was started in May 2012. The park was designed by Spanish company Art Urbà. [4] At first, six lions were migrated to the park in 2014. [contradictory] In 2015 a deer safari, antelope safari, bear safari and leopard safari were added and the park was renamed as Etawah Safari Park. [3]
The park, which hosts two-thirds of the world's Indian rhinoceroses, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. [2] According to a March 2018 census conducted jointly by the Forest Department of the Government of Assam and some recognized wildlife NGOs, the rhino population in Kaziranga National Park is 2,613.
