The history of MPPSC begins with the former state commission Madhya Bharat Commission which was working from 1954-1956. Following the reorganization of Madhya Pradesh state, the new commission came into existence on 1 November 1956 under the Article 315 and Section 118 (3) of States Reorganisation Act, 1956 [5]
Indore State was a kingdom within the Maratha Confederacy ruled by the Maratha Holkar dynasty. [1] After 1857, Indore became a 19-gun salute princely state within the Central India Agency of the Indian Empire under British protection. On 22 April 1948 Yashwantrao Holkar II signed a covenant with the rulers of the adjoining princely states to form a new state known as Madhya Bharat. Madhya Bharat was created on 28 May 1948. On 16 June 1948, the princely state of Indore, which the House of Holkar ruled, merged with the newly independent Indian states.
