William J. Riley Sr. (October 7, 1920 [1] – December 15, 2006) was an American entertainer known as "Mr. State Fair" in Iowa. Riley was born in Iowa Falls, Iowa.His father died when he was 18 months old, and Bill and his brother were raised by their mother through the Great Depression.
During his tenure in state government Reichardt sponsored the bill to resume an annual Iowa – Iowa State football game. In 1994, Reichardt was a Democratic candidate for governor during the primary elections and in 1999 he circulated a petition to become a mayoral candidate for the City of Des Moines, but did not pursue the position.
