Makoshika State Park ("ma-KO-sh(ih)kuh" from the Lakota Mako sica, meaning 'bad land' or 'land that is bad') [2] is a nature preserve and public recreation area located on the southeast side of Glendive in Dawson County, Montana. The state park encompasses badlands containing dinosaur fossils and rock from the Hell Creek Formation. [2]

Upper Soda Springs is on the banks of the Sacramento River in Dunsmuir, California, USA.It consists of approximately 15 acres (60,000 m 2) of level ground on both sides of the River, the surrounding hillsides, and continues north along the eastern bank of the Sacramento River to the Dunsmuir City Park.
The work is in addition to planned electrical and septic line upgrades and will cause park closures. Campsites 1-99 will close Aug. 23 to June 15, 2025.
Castle Crags is a dramatic and well-known rock formation in Northern California.Elevations range from 2,000 feet (610 m) along the Sacramento River near the base of the crags, to over 6,500 feet (2,000 m) at the summit of the tallest crag.
Dunsmuir has numerous parks located throughout the city. Dunsmuir City Park and Botanical Gardens is a 10-acre (4.0 ha) municipal park and botanical garden maintained by Dunsmuir Botanical Gardens Inc., a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization of volunteers within Dunsmuir City Park. [8]
Castle Lake and the surrounding area contain a wide variety of animals and plants including trout, bears, deer, otters, frogs, and osprey. [5] The area is also well-known [6] [7] for early summer displays of flowers, [6] including red Columbine (Aquilegia truncata), fawn lily (Erythronium sp.), and Shasta pentstemon (Pentstemon laetus).
