Most schools in Kuwait are public schools which educate in the Arabic language. There are, however, a few schools which run under Indian Central Board of Secondary Education , British , American and French systems, or a combination of languages.

A former director of Kuwait University and UNESCO ambassador, she was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2005 and in 2019 was awarded the Legion of Honour for her services to education and women's empowerment.

The Kuwait English School was established in 1978 by Jassim Al Saddah, who acted as the chairman of the school, alongside Rhoda Elizabeth Muhmood, as the school's director until 2022. [1] The school was originally a villa until 1984 where they established a "proper" school facility.
