Hartford was laid out about 1817. [2] In its peak years, Hartford was a point on the stagecoach route from Madison to Aurora. [3] Before the flood of 1937 there were four mills, and a general store which opened up in 1978 and closed in the mid-1980s.
Pike Township is one of four townships in Ohio County, Indiana, United States. As of the 2020 census, its population was 492 and it contained 200 housing units. [1]
