The American Association for Anatomy (AAA), based in Rockville, MD, was founded in Washington, D.C., in 1888 as the Association of American Anatomists for the "advancement of anatomical science." AAA later changed its name to the American Association of Anatomists, and then became the American Association for Anatomy in 2019.

Charles Rupert Stockard (1879–1939) was an American anatomist and zoologist. [1] He was born in Stoneville, Mississippi. In 1906, he joined the Department of Anatomy at Cornell Medical College. He became a professor of anatomy in 1911. [1] He was the president of the American Association of Anatomists (1928–1930). [2]
