Hastings District had a population of 85,965 in the 2023 New Zealand census, an increase of 4,428 people (5.4%) since the 2018 census, and an increase of 12,720 people (17.4%) since the 2013 census. There were 42,231 males, 43,482 females and 252 people of other genders in 29,766 dwellings.

Raureka is a suburb of Hastings City, in the Hawke's Bay Region of New Zealand's North Island. The suburb has three council-owned parks: Ebbett Park, St Leonards Park and Whenua Takoha Reserve. [3] Raureka locals established a campaign in 2018 to stop the council selling part of Ebbett Park to developers. [4]

Longlands is a rural community in the Hastings District and Hawke's Bay Region of New Zealand's North Island. The area is on the southern and western outskirts of Hastings city. The Longlands Estate occupied much of the land around 1880, [3] but was broken up into smaller farms and a freezing works in the early 20th century. [4] [5] [6]
