The Susquehanna River in Owego. Owego is on the Susquehanna River where the Owego Creek flows into the Susquehanna from the north. A bridge connects the village to the Southern Tier Expressway (New York State Route 17), which is on the south side of the river. Owego is located on NY-17C, south of the junction of NY-96 and NY-38.

New York State Route 283 (NY 283) was an east–west state highway located within Tioga County in the Southern Tier of New York in the United States. It ran along the south bank of the Susquehanna River from an intersection with NY 282 in the village of Nichols to a junction with NY 17 (now NY 96 and NY 434) in the village of Owego.

Owego is a town in Tioga County, New York, United States. The population was 18,728 at the 2020 census. [2] The name is derived from the Iroquois word Ahwaga, meaning "where the valley widens". Owego is in the southeastern corner of the county, west of Binghamton. The village of Owego is in the western part of the town.

[ 1 ] [ 4 ] In 2005, Upstate Shredding purchased its sister company, Ben Weitsman & Son, Inc. Adam's father Fred announced his retirement in 2005, [ 5 ] and Adam acquired a new scrapyard in Solvay, New York , in 2009.
NY 38 originally overlapped with NY 96 [15] (designated as NY 15 in 1930) [16] through Owego to a terminus at the modern junction of NY 96 and NY 434 south of the village. [15] The overlap was extended slightly along Southside Drive to NY 17 exit 64 in the 1960s following the construction of the Southern Tier Expressway through the area.
